Possess Me by T. N. King
Review by Sue I had high hopes and excitement going into Possess Me by T.N. King. The blurb/synopsis of this book was intriguing and it pulled me in. However, when I started reading, it was not actually what I was expecting. I am actually disappointed. The plot was slow and so was the simmer. I can deal with this as some of the best romances start with a slow simmer but it never moved beyond that point for me in this book. At about midway through, I lost all connection with the characters. Ellie who is submissive by nature comes off meek and weak. I do not believe that these attributes are synonymous with submission. She is also too easily won over. Where is her strength of character? She needed constant reassurance throughout the book. Morgan Hunt changes his mind so quick, I feel like I got whiplash. What he does afterward and the way Ellie reacts makes their relationship seem surreal. Unbelievable. It feels like he’s buying her love and she is accepting it beyond all rhyme or reason. I felt like I was being told a story versus actually experiencing it and found there was not enough interaction between Ellie and Morgan to sustain their relationship. There was however a lot of internal dialogue. The epilogue seemed out of place and thrown in haphazardly since there was no foreshadowing or even mention as to why this was happening. Regardless of this, I really enjoyed the epilogue. It seems to be laying the foundation for the book I expect to be the next installment. Overall, although I struggled to finish this book, Possess Mewas sexy and well written. I haven’t given up on this series yet. With what the ending seems to promise in the next book, I may just find that exciting and angsty read I was looking for. **ARC provided for honest review**
