Hollywood Heir by Ruth Cardello

Review by Angelique “Everyone comes into our lives for a reason.” A Plant psychologist? I recall thinking when I started that this could not be a real thing, but now having read the last page, I am like “Heck yes! Plant psychologist for the win!” Unusual as it sounds and seems at first, New York Timesbestselling author, Ruth Cardello manages to sway and swoon you into loving every character in her latest installment of the Westerly Billionaire series, Hollywood Heir. Meet Sage Revere, the sweet woman who finds her way into taking care of your plants while also helping your heart. She finds people, and sometimes people find her, who needs a little nudge or a little help in finding the happiness they’ve lost or the joy they’ve forgotten exists in the world. She’s sweet and seems pretty odd at first but she’s hands down, one of the characters that makes the story as vibrant as it is. Like anyone who’s a colourful soul, Sage’s best friend, Bella is a bit more realistic, working as a lawyer, she is also Sage’s sounding board and the one who brings her back to reality when she seems to be drifting off of the ground. She’s caring and they’ve known each other long enough to be more like family. “To love and be loved – isn’t that what life is all about?” Wayne Easton, who is actually Eric Westerly – aka Water Bear Man – wants to be left alone, he’s fine drinking his coffee every morning and just being one of the regular people who fits into the background. But then this oddball of a woman appears and manages to make him question himself along with her self-proclaimed career that doesn’t seem normal at all. Yet something pulls him in and keeps him close to her, wanting to learn more about her and her mission. Does she know who he really is? Is she a bit crazy? Why can’t he get her out of his thoughts? The story is unique, albeit it does include a millionaire – and one who can be a bit cocky and selfish – it is different, a good, refreshing and yes – I might have cried a bit – kind of different. Starting in a coffee shop with a broody stranger and ending with a dinner table full of crazy family members, it also teaches that flaws aren’t bad, they just make you human. The smile returned – the one that made him wonder how he’d lived a single day without it. Hollywood Heir is worth losing some sleep over! **ARC provided for honest review**
