Review by Nancy A fabulous paranormal romance! The perfect example of how opposites attract! Darkest Heart by Juliette Cross is the first book in the Dominion series and Cross started it with a bang. This book is a battle between good and evil and although we were always told the bad guys never win, towards the end of the book you will be hoping the bad guy gets his HEA! Anya, an angel warrior, is in desperate need of help. Dommiel, a high demon, is sent to help the Vessel Of Light, where he first lays eyes on Anya. When Dommiel first spots Anya he experiences an instant spark, he knows he can not possibly be attracted to an angel but there is no denying his attraction. Anya is hesitant having to work side by side a demon, she knows not to trust him, and yet she can’t chase away the feeling of longing for him. Through a lot of twist and turns we get to experience the slow burn that is the love between Anya and Dommiel. This read is angsty and dark, yet you can’t help but swoon. Dommiel is the perfect anti-hero. In a battle between worlds we get a glimmer of happiness, Cross developed the perfect mix of all things paranormal with the romance we seek.
