Up in Flames by Jennifer Blackwood
Review by Morgen Up in Flames by Jennifer Blackwood is an enemy to lovers, best friends brother romance. This book encourages you to go for what you want. Sloane is a nurse practitioner. She loves to bake and do crafts, to her all the colors of the rainbow are beautiful. Her ex cheated on her after ten years together and when she caught him he blamed it all on her. It broke down vital pieces of her confidence and she hasn’t been able to put herself back into the dating world ever since. Sloane is stubborn, persistent, and caring. Reece is a firefighter at Station Eleven. He loves saving peoples lives. He likes to be in control. He’s had his heart-broken before and now he has a rule that he doesn’t sleep with a woman more than once to keep his heart safe and his life uncomplicated. His life revolves around work. Since his sister, Erin is in a relationship with his best friend so he gets to see her more now and Sloane too as they are best friends. He’s cocky, daring, and driven. They’ve known each other almost their whole lives. Neither is ready for real intimacy, fear of being hurt again prominent in their mind. Sloane has held a grudge against Reece for some time now and to say their relationship is a bit prickly would be an understatement. They make it awkward whenever they’re both in the same room. The annual firefighter auction Four for Four is coming up and after a hiccup at work he’s roped into it. When the opportunity arises for Sloane to get some payback, how could she refuse? Four Favors in Four weeks what could go wrong. She can bring him to his knees. I love that the story is told from both Reece and Sloane’s POV. It lets us see a much clearer picture of the characters and their behavior. I really enjoyed their witty banter and the undeniable chemistry that continuously sparked between them. They know just how to press each other’s buttons, and do so with a smile on their face. The evolution of their relationship drew me in. Seeing it from both their POV warmed my heart. Their insecurities connected me with them. I felt a part of their inner struggle as they fought their attraction for each other. The angst in every moment they touched or shared a look was everything I wanted and more. Once they finally gave in to their inner most desires flames erupted from their passion. Could they ever stop? Would they ever want to? I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys witty banter, sassy females, and hot fireman with a sharp tongue that never quits. **ARC provided for an honest review **
