The Evolution of Man by Skye Warren
Review by Amy W. "Pretend you don't want this, if it helps. That goes for the both of you. I'll be the villain in this story." I both loved and hated The Evolution of Man by Skye Warren. On the one hand it was everything that I expected after reading Survival of the Richest, on the other I never gave up hope on this being MORE in every sense of the word. "It's a bad habit of mine, destroying the things I love." Like my review for the first book, I am just going to give my thoughts on the characters because 1) you need to read Survival of the Richest before jumping in and I don't want to ruin that experience and 2) the characters are what make this story what it is. "If we look up the word 'diabolical' in one of the old dictionaries here, there will be Christopher's face with his dark eyes and cheekbones." Okay so let's start with Christopher. He is still controlling and frustrating. I just want to slap this man and say open your eyes!! GRRRR!!! I can't even with him. I know a lot of readers love Christopher, and I don't hate him, but he just drove me crazy with his actions. I'm still debating if his reasons were selfishness or love. He's dangerous, this man. More dangerous than Christopher's cruel indifference. Sutton Mayfair. I thought this man was fantasy material before, but now... you need to point a fire hose my way, this man sets my libido on fire. We learn a little something that just makes him hotter in my opinion, something that I wish was explored more, even if just to fuel my Sutton fantasies. And I will always be #TeamSutton I don't care what anyone has to say about it. "Christopher has a way of ruining a person, doesn't he? You meet him and boom, it's all over." Harper, the poor girl, is dealt so much. These two men, her mother, the library. It seems that everything is against her and she stays so strong. I found myself wishing I could give her the shoulder she needed. You will tear up a time or two in empathy to her and her situation. "I'm allowed to say no, Sutton." "You're allowed to. Maybe I'll even believe you." I had my suspicions on how this story would end, and they were right, but I still wish that it would have went a different way. That being said, I still loved this ending to a beautiful love story a long time in the making and will continue to stalk Skye in hopes of a little something to come my way and give me the fix I need after reading this. If you don't know what I'm talking about, well you should probably read this and find out ;) #TeamSutton4Life **ARC provided for an honest review**
