Even If I Fall by Abigail Johnson
Review by Sue I truly loved Even If I Fall by Abigail Johnson. It is an engaging, heartbreaking and heartwarming tale of healing and moving forward after a heinous act. Brooke is trying and failing to come to terms with the fact that her brother murdered his best friend. She has quit living and instead is now simply existing. Trying and failing to get the support she needs from her broken family she seeks and finds a kindred spirit in Heath when she picks him up one day. A tentative friendship ensues because they understand each other and both need someone to talk to. But their relationship is somewhat taboo since her brother murdered him. It would also be more than frowned upon by their respective families. But, they are drawn like a moth to the flame, having their clandestine meetings and healing each other piece by piece. When Brooke finds out a secret, however, it may just be enough to break them into pieces all over again. This is an amazing and engrossing story. It is original and very well written. Brooke was definitely a strong heroine even though she is somewhat young and naive. Heath was kind and caring and understandably angry. I love how he brings the strength she sometimes needs to lean on. The story is amazing as is but I believe having Heath’s POV would have made the story that much more powerful. I also would have loved an epilogue to see how everyone is doing. A must read! Will definitely be reading more from this author. ** ARC provided for an honest review **
