An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen
Review by Heather An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is dark and suspenseful and thoroughly engaging. I was hooked from the very first chapter. Jessica is a single New Yorker, working hard as a mobile makeup artist. She has a fateful appointment with two college girls and learns that one of them can’t keep a commitment for a paid study on campus. Jessica decides that she’ll take the girl’s place and present herself for the study. 'You're Invited: Seeking women aged 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality conducted by a preeminent NYC psychiatrist. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed. Call for more details. ' Jessica talks her way into the study and becomes Subject 52. The questions are thought-provoking and feel a bit invasive, but the study is anonymous and the money is good. Dr. Shields decides that Jessica/Subject 52 is worthy of further study and not so anonymous, so she offers Jessica more money to continue. What could Dr. Shields want to learn from her? Jessica figures she can handle it, but has she bitten off more than she can chew? It is hard to talk much more about the book without giving away spoilers. Suffice it to say, there are many twists and turns and just when you think you’ve figured it out, it changes again. The ending is perfect. I highly recommend this book and absolutely loved it. Will have to go and read The Wife Between Us now. **ARC provided for an honest review**
