Waking to Black (Uninhibited #1) by V.H. Luis
Review by Elizabeth Holy. Crow. Before today, V.H. Luis’s name never crossed any of my conversations on authors that I must read. Now, l am sitting her like WHERE HAS SHE BEEN?? Waking to Black completely broke me to the point to where I was sobbing while reading it. Have you ever read a book that owned you from the beginning and made it nearly impossible to put down? Well, Evie in Waking to Black had me from the start. That woman has been through heck and yet she still pushes through. She has her moments where she breaks down and wants to give up. Insert Adam, who is this major rude a--hole, and does something to Evie to bring her out of that shell she is in. Adam gives her a reason to live. As I began to read Evie’s story I thought her being with Adam would set her back and cause her to do more harm. However, as I continued to read I realized that Adam is saving her and by default, she is saving him. Neither wants to open up about their past because of the pain. Waking to Black is raw. Like really. It is full of angst -- which I usually refuse to read -- romance, sex, you name it. This book will have you crying those big fat ugly tears and you will want to beat some sense into both Evie and Adam. You have got to read this book. No doubt about it. Their story continues in Fading to Black. **ARC provided for an honest review**
