Reclaiming Tomorrow (Kingsley, #3) by Haylee Thorne
Review by Sasha Star crossed love stories. Even though you always know that they’re going to have some dark, painful moment that makes you absolutely want to rip your heart out at some point and scream at the author for even writing that and making the poor character suffer, a part of you still reads each love story and hopes for a different outcome. Reclaiming Tomorrow by Haylee Thorne is another guilty pleasure read. There is such a raw, emotional quality to her writing and the trauma that she brings into these stories is nearly as draining for the reader to go through as it is for the characters to endure. Mikaela Kingsley is part of the exclusive Kingsley clan. Being part of a wealthy family dynasty comes with its perks. She’s been given everything she could possibly want; clothes, cars, trips to amazing places and her pick of any eligible boy her heart could want. The only problem is that she doesn’t want any of that. All of the fortune and fame that comes along with the Kingsley name is the one thing that keeps her from the one person her heart really wants to be with; Eric Hardwick, who’s not only the family lawyer for the Kingsley’s but also best friend to Mikaela’s brother Mika. He’s a walking definition of tall, dark and handsome The only aspect and I literally mean the only thing that bothered me about this book was that it really did need to be read with the others in the series. There is clearly a backstory to these characters that have been set up. While you can read them as standalones, it’s not as a satisfying. I believe that going in sequential order would enrich the reader’s experience. The characters were electric from the beginning to end. The author did a great job at bringing the emotional level up right from the beginning of the book and not letting it falter. It plays on classic romance tropes like friend falls for the younger sibling of their best friend but brings in their own twist and makes the story unfold in an interest peaking way. **ARC provided for an honest review**
