Overture by Skye Warren
Review by Elizabeth Skye Warren has been on my TBR list for a long while now and I never really got around to reading her work even though I have one-clicked ninety-five percent of her books. I saw the blurb for Overture floating around so I thought, why not. Boy am I glad I did! In Overture, we meet Samantha and Liam who are very attracted to one another but cannot let their relationship blossom. Why? For one, Liam is Samantha’s guardian and has been for years. He has watched her grow into the woman she is and cannot act on those feelings. All the while, Samantha has been developing the same feelings. Can they let go and just be? Or is their relationship doomed before they even try? OMG, I am NOT a fan of cliffhangers and let me tell you Overture left me hanging! With Overture being my first read by Skye Warren, I did not expect the hanger I was left with. Liam is a very intriguing guy and it is intense reading about his past, the little he divulges, as well as how much he feels like he does not deserve love. Samantha is a young woman who has no idea how to take the feelings she is feeling. Skye wrote kick-butt characters and worked them into one of my favorite tropes. Forbidden. It is not often that I find a new author to me that blows me away completely. This book kept me turning the pages because it held mystery, angst (in a way), and so much more. I could not have picked a better book to pop my Skye Warren cherry (lol). I am not so patiently waiting for the next book in the series. I cannot wait to see how their relationship goes if there is one, and how the mystery is solved!!! ***ARC received in exchange for an honest review***
