Sing it, Sam by Jennifer Ryder
Review by Angelique I went into this book only having read the blurb and the hopes of a beautiful story of love and hope. What I found was beautiful, heart wrenching and pure magic! Jennifer Ryder delivers beyond expectation in her latest novel, Sing it, Sam. “Your place ... it feels like home. More home than any place I’ve lived in a while.” We start off meeting Jane, an events coordinator for a Nursing Home in the small town of Willow Creek. She’s an aspiring writer who got her love for writing from her grandmother who was a best selling novelist. As Jane goes about her duties, she’s met with Trouble. Mr. Trouble is what he’s known as amongst the residents. With his beautiful blue eyes and mop of brown messy hair, he’s far too young to be in a nursing home and far too much trouble for his own liking. But Sam Marshall is not what meets the eye. He doesn’t spend much time outside of his room and feels out of place between all the old people but who knows what his own personal Wonder Woman can convince him to do. Their story is unique. Sam being in the situation that his illness put him in, feels unworthy of being even a little bit of the man he used to be. But, his Janie makes life in the four white walls of his room seem like an adventure and he soon finds himself hoping and working towards getting better day by day. As expected there are amazing, heartwarming moments and there are sad moments but it’s impossible to put down this book. With the beauty of Australia in the background and the realistic characters that climb into your heart, you are caught in Willow Creek and it’s wonderful essence. Ben, Sam’s older brother, along with Jane's boss and all her author friends are a sweet addition to their story. Without giving too much away, Jennifer manages to catch you off guard with her way with words, her lively scenarios and a little something I did not see coming AT ALL. “Janie,” he says and sighs. “There’s a song by a legend of our time who could have very well written this song about you and me. This is ‘Thinking Out Loud ’ by the ginger Jesus, Mr. Ed Sheeran.” With hope and love, everything slowly falls into place. **ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**
