Breaking the Billionaire's Rules by Annika Martin
Review by Nancy Witty and entertaining Breaking The Billionaire’s Rules by Annika Martin is a very humorous enemy to lovers romance. Mia is a struggling actress delivering sandwiches in a cat costume to pay the bills. When she realizes she will be making daily deliveries to her longtime nemesis, Max, she is appalled. Mia is sure Max set up the deliveries to humiliate her and to rub his wealth in her face. A long time ago Mia would have done anything for a chance at a relationship with Max, now she wants nothing to do with him. But her feelings can’t seem to get the memo. Max is made out to be a playboy, a wealthy arrogant jerk. The first part of the book is told in Mia's perspective only and we get the Max everyone loves to hate. Once we get Max’s perspective, I realized there was more to him than meets the eye. Max made a name for himself at a very early age by writing a playbook on how to get the hottest girl in the room to date you. He didn’t see it coming, that one day his playbook would be used against him. This was one of those reviews that was hard for me to write. As much as I wanted to fall in love with the characters and the story, there was just something missing for me. I enjoyed the humor and witty conversations, but I needed more character development. I felt like both Max and Mia were lacking. The story went from full-on planning revenge to declaring love to one another. Mia was supposed to bring Max to his knees using his own playbook, but one night with him and she was head over heels in love. It felt a little rushed and unfinished. Nonetheless, I rated this book three stars, just because I personally didn’t love the book doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. It just wasn’t my favorite. ***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review***
