BRASH: An Enemies to Lovers Romance by S.C. Daiko
Review by Leah Brash by S.C. Daiko is a good summer read that has a dash of suspense along with some romance. I would not say a mafia read, more of a spin-off, which I am curious about. Ben “Brash”, which I can think of other names besides Brash, is true to his name. Blunt, arrogant with a pain in the rear personality. Which fits him well. He was true to character. I enjoyed reading about those layers melting away through the book. The brick wall he has built would withstand a typhoon. When he is backed into a corner or, let's say, stranded on an island with a gorgeous woman, that brick wall starts to chip away. Strong-willed, Aly is determined to make a name for herself as a professional photographer without her parents’ help. Mafia Princess has a nice ring to it until you realize how controlling her parents can be. Brash offers Aly a job at one of his hotels in the Maldives. Knowing his reputation and also his personality, she takes on the job because really what could go wrong? I enjoyed this book, it put me right in the middle of the Maldives. Having not read the original books that this spin-off came from, I might have understood the characters more if I would have read them.. You might want to make sure and read the others of this series first. Besides all that, it is a good read. You definitely feel the chemistry between Brash and Aly. The writing of the Maldives puts you right there in the gorgeous Indian Ocean. ***ARC received in exchange for an honest review.***
