Drummer Girl by Ginger Scott
Review by Lisa
I read this book without reading the synopsis and holy smokes was I surprised and excited. I don't know what I thought it was going to be about but, let me tell you, this story was amazing. Drummer Girl by Ginger Scott is an unexpectedly brilliant story. This story is real(ish), heartbreaking and funny. It’s full of life, love, family, and so much more. I realized after going back and reading the synopsis, I would have grabbed this book up regardless. As I read this, I heard it in the movie announcing voice (LOL) and I was hooked again and ready to read it again: One night in a garage at the end of a cul-de-sac in the middle of a bankrupt California neighborhood, Jesse’s melody found Arizona’s rhythm. An angry boy with storm-colored eyes found a blonde angel in Doc Martens with missing lines in her own story. Where her rhythm stopped, his words took over, and together, they wrote one hell of a story. This a YA/NA that deals with mental health, drug abuse and some sexual situations. You have been warned. This book is so well written that I zipped right through the pages and enjoyed every minute of it. The chemistry between the characters from start to finish is chart-topping and jumps off the pages. ***ARC received in exchange for an honest review.***
