A Cut so Deep (Thornes & Roses, #1)
Review by Leah I love Dani Rene, so of course, I immediately picked up this book. There are warnings immediately which made me worry a bit but my gut told me to trust Dani, and man did she dig deep for this one. She brought such a tormented soul to light. Emotions all over the place throughout the book: heartache, despair, pain, anger but there is also strength, power, life, freedom, and love. Nesrin, what a beautiful name, I love this name. Nesrin has demons she fights every second of every day. My heart hurt so many times for her. I just wanted to just sit on the bathroom floor with her. Just to sit with her so she knows she is not alone. Damien is absolute perfection for Nesrin. Thank you Dani for writing him as you did. “I never said I was a bad person, wild rose,” I tell her. “I’m the *@$@#* monster under your bed. The creature that will leave you broken and bleeding on the floor. I’ll smile while you ask for mercy.” Yeah, that is an odd quote for how my review sounds but when you get to that point your heart explodes. When I read a book like this, it reminds me that it is not always the knight in shining armor that saves the day. It’s not always a bright and sunny picnic type of day that helps. Sometimes it is the dark. Sometimes it is the monster under your bed. Life is not perfect but to find love in your darkness brings hope.
