Finding Home on Winslow Island (Winslow Island #1)
Review by Meaghan Finding Home On Winslow Island is the start of a brand new series “Winslow Island” written by Chrissy Elliot and what a start to a series this is. The writing is exceptional and made for a beautiful, easy to read book. This one has all the glitter, sparkle, and brightly colored suits with the island’s famous Matchmaker Festival adding to the fun. Throw in some angry scowls and infuriating smirks and this one is a winner. Tessa is divorced and raising her teenage son of her own. She made the decision to leave her workaholic ex who never made the effort to spend time with his family and she refuses to allow herself to make that mistake again. Our heroine is an artist working in a local gallery and trying to help her mother keep the family B&B afloat after dwindling tourist numbers. Parker is a hotshot trauma surgeon who left the island behind to let his career take the front seat in his life. After being left broken-hearted he has hardened himself off to the world. He is drawn back to the island to help celebrate his father’s 70th birthday, it’s the first time in years he and all his brothers have made it home at the same time. We quickly learn that his father’s medical practice is struggling to break even, and he wants to find a way to help, but moving home isn’t an option for this surgeon who is up for a killer promotion. Despite the reservations each of them has (Tessa is afraid of repeating old mistakes and Parker is focused on getting his promotion) there is so much chemistry between these two! Add in the old neighbor, turned matchmaker, who whips out her Tarot cards at any opportunity – albeit with some creative liberties and strategically placed cards, and the laughs are aplenty. **ARC provided for an honest review**
