Show Stopper by B.J. Harvey
Review by Meaghan
Show Stopper is the start of a new spin off series “Chicago First Responders” by B.J. Harvey. Whilst reader’s have been introduced to Marco in the “Cook Brothers” series, this book can absolutely be read as a standalone. In what is possibly the best meet-cute I have ever read, this one has Renee falling down the stairs right into Marco’s arms and them tumbling to the ground.
Marco is a lieutenant working in the Chicago fire department. He comes from a close knit family, so much so that he works with one brother and lives with the other. He also works closely with one of his younger sisters, who just happens to make it her mission to play matchmaker. There is lots of swooning when it comes to Marco, he has left some big boots for future book boyfriends to fill.
“Something tells me Renee will make a man fight for his right to stand by her side, but for a woman like her, you know the battle will always be worth it.”
Renee is a strong independent woman who knows exactly what she wants with her life – and exactly what she doesn’t want! She is a successful realtor, who has a tight bond with those most important to her – her sister and their grandmother. She is hesitant to let Marco into her life at first, after a bad experience with her previous relationship with a man in uniform.
“I’m determined not to let the hang-ups from my past dictate my future.”
I’m looking forward to reading more from the Rossi’s – I’ve definitely fallen in love with this tight-knit Italian family. If you could pick your family – these are the ones you would want to be apart of! This was a wonderful, easy to read book that might be what a lot us need right now. This was my first experience reading this author, now if you’ll please excuse me while I go back and catchup on B.J. Harvey’s backlist.
